Two judicial reviews against EDF's planned nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point, Somerset, have failed (endsreport. com/38944). On 20 December, the High Court ruled against a challenge by An Taisce, the Irish national trust. An Taisce argued that DECC failed to comply with article 7 of the EU's Environmental Impact Assessment Directive when it awarded consent to the project because it did not consult the Irish people (ENDS Report 458, p6).
