WRAP Cymru to benefit from £10m boost

The Welsh government has increased its funding for WRAP Cymru by 41%. The £9.5m of grant funding, for three years from October, is a major boon for the charity and a notable increase on current funding levels. WRAP Cymru received only £2.7m in 2014/15. Two years ago, DEFRA cut WRAP funding in England by 40%, which prompted the organisation to register as a charity. WRAP chief executive Liz Goodwin, who was recently awarded an OBE, said the funding announcement is "indicative of the size of the Welsh government's ambition to create a truly circular economy". WRAP Cymru was set up in 2008. Last year its core programme sales grew by £22m while it made £62m in cost savings and generated 107 jobs.
