Treasury sidelines renewables in support of fossil fuels

Chancellor George Osborne has disappointed the renewables industry and environmental campaigners in his final statement before the general election. The Autumn Statement on 3 December made no mention of the green economy and there were few new measures directly related to the environment. But several economic announcements could affect the competitiveness of environmental and energy industries, both positively and negatively.
