This is the stand-out finding from an analysis by consultants Cambridge Econometrics, the International Council on Clean Transportation and Poyry into options for dealing with rising emissions in the challenging transport sector.1 Globally, savings would amount to a staggering £232bn a year, it adds. The report warns against complacency despite cheap oil, with the UK importing 38% of its oil use and oil products still accounting for almost 93% of global transport energy use.
