'Go west, young man' was the clarion call for generations of American entrepreneurs eager to create or expand their businesses. rnThe west was considered a land of endless opportunity, ripe with a growing consumer base and seemingly endless demand for products of all kinds. rnAnd so it was for many years in the US beverage can business, the biggest of its kind in the world, and still is with almost 100 million cans shipped every year to drinks firms. rnBut over the past few years it's not just been flat but volumes are in decline, mostly because North American consumers have been changing from sugary soda to more 'healthy' drinks and bottled water.
