Global drinks sales hit S1 trillion

Sales in the global liquid refreshment beverage (LRB) industry topped the trillion dollar (US$1,000 billion) mark for the first time last year, according research group Canadean.With an increase worldwide of 5.3 percent, the industry sold drinks worth $1.029tr in 2012, based on provisional forecasts by the researcher.But the biggest sector of the business, carbonated soft drinks (CSDs), had the weakest growth. With sales of $370bn representing a 35.9 percent share, CSDs grew by just 4.3 percent globally.
