Henkel completes Darex acquisition

The acquisition by Henkel of Darex Packaging Technologies, a leading manufacturer of coatings and sealants for the canmaking industry, has been completed. Darex was bought from GCP Applied Technologies for US$1.05 billion (€919m) on a cash and debt free basis. While Henkel supplies lubricants, cleaners, and surface treatments for metal packaging with yearly sales of more than $10bn, Darex specialises in high-performance can sealants, coatings, and closure technology, with sales of $309m from 20 production sites in 19 countries.
