Survey of Privacy Law Developments in 2009: United States, Canada, and the European Union

Clearly, legal developments in the areas of data protection and privacy are in a state of fast flux worldwide. As seen in this Survey many of the developments in the past year are not legislative or judicial in nature, but are in fact advisory, and are still being worked out within and between the various jurisdictions. Next year's survey promises even more changes as countries continue to develop the law in these critical areas.
