ROAD SAFETY AND THE ACCIDENT ASSESSOR

An address delivered by CA Wickes to the Convention of the Safety First at Perth and published June 1947: 'Some of you will no doubt be familiar with the duties of the Accident Assessor, but for those of you who are not, I will give a brief description. An Accident Assessor is a person who by virtue of his technical qualification and experience is called upon to investigate the causes of accidents and to assess the claims arising from such accidents. 'I have been engages in investigating accidents and assessing claims for over 30 years, during which time I have dealt with a vast number of road accidents.The causes of road accidents can be placed in three main categories: Human; Mechanical; and Inevitable Accident.
