Welcome to the twelfth annual Military Justice Symposium, where the criminal law faculty discuss important cases and trends from the 2006 term of court. This month's issue of The Army Lawyer contains Volume Ⅰ of the symposium, covering crimes and defenses, the Fifth Amendment, and evidence. This issue also contains an article on instructions co-authored by two sitting Army trial judges. Volume Ⅱ of the symposium will appear in the next edition of The Army Lawyer, and will contain articles on the Fourth Amendment, the Sixth Amendment, pleas and pretrial procedures, sentencing and post-trial, professional responsibility, speedy trial and pretrial restraint, and unlawful command influence.
