It is always hugely encouraging to see the 'big issue' of women in architecture taken up once again by the magazines, with fresh names as champions of the cause (AJ 11.11.10). A few weeks ago, at the Building Centre, I attended a Women in Architecture event connected to Angela Brady's successful Divercity exhibition, in which I had participated several years ago. It was both exciting and depressing to have an update on the current gender situation, with the statistics from the last decade relating to women in the UK showing a new generation of young women that is becoming more involved in the discipline, and yet still has huge obstacles in its way once it attempts to enter the professional world.
