This facility provides storage conditions, green construction, energy efficiency and has capacity enough for the entire BFI collection. Film is inherently unstable due to its chemical composition, so appropriate cold and dry storage is essential. The facility's cooling system provides the required -5°C with 35 per cent RH. It has six large acetate cells along its centre, flanked by 30 smaller nitrate cells and will be highly insulated and airtight, minimising energy consumption. It is on target for a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.
