Building Futures

Those who have read the RIBA report 'The Future for Architects' will be aware that we foresee an exciting future for those who embark on a career in architecture. However increasing numbers will find that their career takes them to sectors in the wider industry. We suggest that medium-sized practices will be under the greatest pressure, as they are likely to be squeezed by larger multi-disciplinary firms, cheaper foreign competition and construction firms growing their design teams. That's not to suggest that they will disappear, more that their share of the construction cake may shrink in relative terms and consequently their importance as a source of employment.
