Holborn Farringdon and Embankment

The New Street Square development is a key ingredient in the rise of 'Midtown' as a major office location. The site, which includes four large office buildings, the tallest rising to 18 storeys, was cleared by bombing in the Second World War and bleakly rebuilt in the 1950s and 60s. In place of a groundscraper office scheme previously proposed, Bennetts Associates developed a project which focuses on a generous central public space, animated by shops and restaurants and opening up new pedestrian routes.
