Fenchurch Street to the river

Lloyd's Register has long occupied one of the finest late Victorian buildings in the City, designed by TE Collcutt and located on the corner of Fenchurch Street and Lloyd's Avenue. Completed in 1901, it contains work by some of the best artists and craftsmen of the period. Though rooted in the City, Lloyd's Register was seriously considering moving out of London altogether in the 1980s. After this plan was abandoned, Rogers was commissioned to produce a strategy for providing additional space on the Fenchurch Street site, which is constrained by the survival of the disused churchyard of St Katherine Coleman just west of the Collcutt building. (The church went in the 1920s for an extension to Lloyd's Register.
