With respect to the editor's otherwise excellent analysis of the current state of housing (see p.5), there is one single aspect that goes unmentioned. One critical reason for the lack of private development, and the withdrawal of central funding for social housing under Thatcher's and every subsequent government, is that of supply and demand.
