Writing about the possible aftermath of an energy revolution triggered by shale gas extraction, the journalist Christopher Booker suggests that Britain's national energy policy and its most vociferous advocates would resemble the symphony orchestra on a raft next to a seaside Big Top in the film At the Circus, which continues to play as it drifts out to sea after the Marx Brothers have cut its mooring lines. Despite encouraging reports of shale gas use in America and Poland, the need for thermal insulation in climates such as ours isn't in question, but we may not need as much of it in the future, especially with advances in vacuum insulated panel (VIP) technology and manufacturing (AJ Specification 02.11 and AJ 04.02.10).
