Hard wearing properties make rubber flooring the perfect choice for schools

In 1967 the construction of Broadwater Farm residential estate began. By 1973 the estate was fully occupied. Many problems arose for the residents in 1976, which has been largely debated by Haringey Council and RIBA as well as politicians. Since that time regeneration has taken place, primarily in 1981, and despite efforts for improving the residential area the worst night of rioting in the UK occurred at Broadwater Farm in 1985. This shocked the nation and almost destroyed the community as a result. Despite this terrible incidence the council and residents formed many community led groups in an effort to improve the area for the people who lived there.
