Chester-le-Street civic centre faces demolition

The architect of the award-winning Chester-le-Street Civic Centre has said its proposed demolition is 'too hasty'. The bulldozers moved in to flatten the 1982 building by Faulkner-Brown Hendy Watkinson Stonor this week. The aluminium-clad landmark, which the local council said was too costly to maintain, will be replaced by houses.
