Herzog & de Meuron tower approved as part of major Canary Wharf extension

A huge new scheme in Canary Wharf, which includes a residential tower by Herzog & de Meuron, has won outline planning permission. The practice's cylindrical skyscraper is one of 30 proposed new buildings within Allies and Morrison's masterplan for Wood Wharf, on the eastern edge of the existing district in the Docklands. The development will feature 3,100 new homes, parks, a 420-place primary school, NHS medical centre, community centre, hotel and more than 100 shops, restaurants and cafes.
