Architects rally to save Ready Mix HQ

Surrey Leading architects and engineers have rallied behind RIBA Gold Medallist Ted Cullinan in an attempt to save the practice's award-winning Ready Mix Concrete headquarters from demolition. Engineer Max Fordham, past-RIBA president Sunand Prasad, English Heritage historian Elain Harwood and former Arup engineer Chris Twinn were among the leading names at an event on Monday (2 June) held as a rally for the threatened project. Many of those who designed and delivered the exemplar office complex at Egham in Surrey said they were 'surprised' and 'shocked' at the decision to demolish the scheme, which only completed in 1990.
