AJ to present special award to firefighters who saved the Mac

Fire at the mac Plans by The Architects' journal to present a special architectural award to fire fighters in Glasgow for saving the city's renowned School of Art have received widespread media coverage. Two weeks ago, more than 200 fire fighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service fought for seven hours to control the fire at Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Grade A-listed Art Nouveau landmark. Forming a human chain, they managed to stop the fire spreading, protecting more than 90 per cent of the building's structure as well as many irreplaceable artworks.
