The provision of a water kiosk seeks to re-establish the tradition of free drinking water as a civic facility in London, something that has largely become a commodity in the modern city through the prevalence of bottled water on sale and the poor upkeep of public facilities. Allford Hall Monaghan Morris's design seeks to expose the network of subterranean infrastructure beneath the roads and pavements that service the city and, in so doing, express the source of drinking water as a ubiquitous piece of London street furniture.
