The parapet detail brings together a variety of different elements working in a number of planes. The brick colonnade, the soffit, the parapet, curtain walling and roof finish mesh together in this location. This detail represents the conclusion of a considerable amount of effort expended designing each element. This detail shows a brick pier in the background as it is taken in the centre of one of the bays. The masonry is supported on a single leaf lintel, which spans between each pier. This sits independently from the structural steelwork, which supports the inner leaf of the parapet and ties together the steel within each pier. The roof parapet has been designed to providea 1,100mm-high barrier, meaning operatives can work safely on the roof without the need for a fall arrest system.This creates a safer working environment.
