The business end

The brief asked for three distinct elements: a home for Kent Business School; a home for the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science; and a major new teaching and learning provision. Reflecting the schools' apprehensions about being co-located, the university envisaged three linked, but separate buildings. Penoyre & Prasad's design brings the schools together into a single interconnected hub. This offers an enriched learning environment that fosters interaction, collaboration, social exchange and synergies between the business and maths schools.
