Work has finished on a new timber-framed Maggie's centre, designed by Heatherwick Studio, in the grounds of St James's University Hospital, Leeds. Although it took only eight weeks for the construction team to put together the prefabricated structure on site, the 462m~2 scheme had been on the drawing board for several years and had originally been due to open in 2017. The plant-filled scheme, developed with engineers AKT Ⅱ and Max Fordham, is conceived as three mushroom-shaped volumes supporting interlocked rooftop gardens.
