The essay was intended as a piece of memoir writing that addresses the connection between memory and material. It is an emotional response to an unemotional subject; an inanimate garment animated by the wearer. I wanted to explore wool as a material that is animated by humanity and flesh. The essay was written as a direct response to the question: what is wool if not a second skin?
