The Indian textile & apparel industry is growing at a rapid pace and is expected to create 10 million job opportunities in the next 10 years. The size of the industry is expected to reach US$ 220 billion by 2020, out of which export share shall be US$ 80 billion while the rest will be domestic consumption. The growth of this industry is likely to attract large FDI inflows in the country especially in the apparel sector. India is being seen as one of the most preferred sourcing hub by the leading overseas buyers such as GAP, J. C. Penny, Walmart, Marks & Spencer etc.
