In recent years, the textile industry and specifically the preparation, dyeing, printing, and finishing areas, have undergone tremendous change. The marketplace for textile products and machinery has become a global market. Working partnerships have been developed which cross international borders and economic boundaries. Evidence of this globalization can be found in both the number of textile machines and amount of textile products that are imported and exported between countries throughout the world. Trends have been noted that indicate rapid growth in the areas of non-apparel textile products. These product end-uses include medical applications, industrial fabrics, cleanroom textiles, filter materials, coated fabrics, and wallcoverings. As new products are developed, the list of these end-uses continues to grow. Because many of these products are quite different from apparel fabrics in their construction and processing, their utilization growth directly impacts wet processing equipment requirements.
