Saurer CEO Heinrich Fischer talks of the challenges and opportunities now facing the European textile machinery industry It has been estimated that in developed countries, 30% of all sales of clothing are lost as a result of simple logistics - most commonly, because the desired garment is not available in the right colour or size at the store where the customer is seeking to make a final purchase. The consumer may go somewhere else and make an equivalent purchase on the same day, or in the following weeks, but what opportunity does that 30% of the global clothing industry represent to entrepeneurs who can put the necessary logistics in place to make sure the right garment, in the right colour and size, can be purchased immediately? And every time? This question can go right back to the start of the chain, to fibre and yarn manufacturers, and even to the builders of machinery for their production.
