Fashion is still largely driven by the marketing of the major retail brands, often through key concepts intended to strike emotive chords with the consumer. Translating such concepts right back to the chemistry that can be employed along the production chain to realise them, however, is a different thing all together. This is the challenge Ciba Textile Effects has risen to in the development of its most recent product ranges, having identified a number of key words which recurred in the needs of the specifiers of textile end-products, such as 'comfort', 'freshness', 'easy care', 'protection', , 'stretch', 'drape', 'feel' and 'flow'.
