Acimit - Italy's national textile machinery association - plans a proactive start to 2009 with specialised events in India and China. On January 22 next year the company is holding a technical workshop on technology for automotive engineering materials in New Delhi, in a cooperation with BCH (Business Co-Ordination House). Large infrastructure development projects now underway in India combined with favourable government policies will drive growth in the automotive sector in the next few years, says ACIMIT A number of Italian manufacturers of machinery for technical textiles and nonwovens will be introducing their latest technologies for this sector at the New Delhi event. In 2007 Italian sales of textile machinery to India were worth €135 million, making it one of Italy's leading foreign markets. In the first half of 2008 sales worth €67 million were achieved, with spinning accounting for 33%, followed by weaving machines (24%) and finishing machines (23%).
