Predicting fashion trends in advance to match supply chain requirements has long been a challenge for the knitwear industry and it is now developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology that learns from social media images to get ahead of the market. Moodboard Analytics, a small start-up in the Indian IT hub of Bengaluru (Bangalore) is using new computer models to create reliable and quickly available fashion intelligence for commercial knitters. "We analyse data from the images on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and others though our machine learning model to provide actionable output to the designers," Anandita Bhuyan, founder and product manager of Moodboard Analytics says.
