According to 2018's textile industry Digital Transformation Survey, although investment in digitalisation is still in its early stages, it is "set to increase rapidly over the next five years". Furthermore, "buzzwords like digitisation, automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 are at the top of everyone's minds," says Matthew Cochran, chief operations officer (COO) at global technology start-up PAAT International, about the recent TechTextil event in the US. "Companies that are not looking for ways to drive change through software and data are going to be left behind."
