CONTROL RAJ MUST GO

While garment exports may have a lot of potential, realising that potential will require immediate government action to sort out the major problems that exporters are facing today. Right from AEPC chairman Raju Goenka to Confederation of Indian Apparel Exporters (CIAE) president Amit Goyal and All India Garment Exporters and Manufactures Association (AIGEMA) president Madan Jain feel that unless the government urgently address their problems with labour and streamlines the procedure for import of inputs, not much headway can be made in garment exports. Moreover, certain policy issues should also be sorted out and the peasant syndrome of frequent policy changes should stop.
