Colour Fastness Properties of Silk Fabric Dyed with Poinsettia Leaves

Pollution, ecology and environment are talked about both nationally and internationally. The increasing awareness of these factors associated with synthesis, processing and use of these dyes has led to worldwide interest in colouration of textiles with flora and fauna. The environment friendly vegetable dyes and natural dyes are enjoying resurgence in popularity as a result of concern with the carcinogenic, mutagenic and sensitizing characterstics of synthetic dyes. Until the later half of 19~(th) century, almost all dyes were of vegetable and animal origin. Synthetic dyes were rapidly accepted because of their very distinct advantage over natural dyes in respect to application, colour range and availability. The ban on the certain number of synthetics dyes has stimulated the entry of golden era of natural and vegetable dyes.
