World cotton production down 278,000 tonnes

World cotton production fell by 278,000 tonnes over the October/November period of the 2010/2011 season, according to cotton market analysts Cotton Outlook. In November worldwide production was at 24.78m tonnes, dropping from 25.06m tonnes in October. In China alone cotton production dropped by 200,000 tonnes, from 6.4m tonnes in October to 6.2m tonnes in November. The production statistics for the 2010/2011 season are, however, still up on the 21.9m tonnes achieved in November last year.
