This is the book for which dress historians, and indeed anyone interested in academic studies involving clothing, have been waiting; a book that is a cohesive exemplar of the richness and breadth of the subject now. It is a book that pays testament and homage to the vast accomplishments of Professor Lou Taylor, celebrating her achievements in essentially founding the discipline (particularly in the UK) whilst developing from it, introducing new topics, themes and voices. It is a book that highlights method, and in lots of ways the papers included act as a 'how to' for those new to the discipline or for those who have lost their way amidst interdisciplinary investigations. The book therefore offers rigour, direction and purpose in a way that other collections arising from conference proceedings do not; the selection and organisation of the twelve papers underlines this.
