US-China Strategic Economic Dialogue

On December 5, 2008, US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson made an important closing statement at the fifth meeting of the US-China Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED). He represented President George W. Bush to conduct this SED and China's Vice Premier Wang Qishan represented President Hu Jintao to develop strategies to reach shared long-term objectives while managing short-term challenges in economic relations between the two countries.
