Microfibre - a novel cleaning textile that is also eco-friendly

Recently, technological revolutions have had a great impact on home cleaning. Under this context, microfibre, as a newly created textile, refers to Microfibres as a fibre finer than one denier1. The most common types of microfibres are made from polyesters or a conjugation of polyester and polyamide. Its products are environmental friendly cleaning textiles, which make prefect cleaning without using detergent or, if at all, the least amount of chemicals; or even more importantly, less water than conventional cleaning products. Since Dr. Miyoshi Okamoto developed the continuous filament type microfibre in the 1960s, it has been widely applied in various industrial applications. It was first publicised in the early 1990s in Sweden and became a successful product in Europe. Starfiber was the first microfibre launched in the US market in the very early 1990s.
