Sound has often been dubbed the "Cinderella" craft of the TV industry, but this was not a description that found favour with recordist Mick Duffield and sound supervisor Kevin Duff. Duffield is usually found on location, whether that's in the Alps for the Bafta award-winning documentary film Touching the Void or China for BBC Two's The Story of China. For the former, he had to capture sound from a crevasse in a glacier, 4,000m above sea level and with temperatures far below zero.
