摘要

A group of academics is calling on the Obama administration, Congress, and the FCC to implement a new telecommunications and media policy agenda for the U.S. that includes a broadband plan that is technologically neutral and protects the interests of consumers, including through net neutrality. Sixteen scholars from 11 research universities compiled the plan, " ... And Communications for All," which has been published in a book. The academics formed the Future of American Communications (FACT) Working Group, which was overseen by Perm State University's Institute for Information Policy. The plan was discussed Jan. 26 at a Washington event hosted by the New America Foundation. Several of the speakers criticized communications policy under the Bush administration and a Republican-controlled FCC and expressed optimism that the Obama administration and a Democratic-controlled Commission and Congress will react favorably to the proposals.
