Republicans on the House communications and technology subcommittee grilled FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler on a variety of issues at a Nov. 17 hearing, including agency enforcement activities, the work of the Downloadable Security Technical Advisory Committee (DSTAC), the agency's plans to clarify its privacy authority under the open Internet order, and Commission transparency. During a more than three-hour hearing, Republican Commissioners Ajit Pai and Mike O'Rielly also reiterated their complaints with Mr. Wheeler and various agency activities, while Mr. Wheeler defended the FCC's actions and disclosed time lines for agency movement in several proceedings. The hearing was the second before the subcommittee to feature all five Commissioners since shortly after Mr. Wheeler took over two years ago.
