President Obama announced on May 20 that he intends to nominate FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel to another term on the Commission, and the White House said on May 21 that the nomination had been forwarded to the Senate. Ms. Rosenworcel's current term expires at the end of June, but absent the confirmation of another person to her seat, she could continue to serve until Congress adjourns in 2016. The recent departure of some of her senior staff had prompted speculation that she did not want to serve another term. The announcement inspired statements of congratulations and praise from industry, Congress, and her fellow Commissioners.
