FCC Restarts Clocks On Two Major Mergers

The FCC on Dec. 3 restarted its informal 180-day shot clocks to review the Comcast Corp.-Time Warner Cable, Inc., and AT&T, Inc.-Directv transactions in the wake of a court ruling staying, pending judicial review, an FCC order providing for third-party access to broadcast retransmission and other video programming distribution agreements and related documents. The Commission announced in a public notice in MB dockets 14-57 and 14-90 that the shot clock for the AT&T-Directv transaction had restarted and reset to Day 70 while the Comcast-Time Warner Cable shot clock restarted at Day 85.
