Lawmakers Urge Facebook, Amazon to End 'Attack' on Khan

Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.) in urging Amazon.com, Inc., Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy and Facebook, Inc., CEO Mark Zuckerberg to abandon their "coordinated attack" seeking to persuade recently installed Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan to recuse herself from any antitrust matters involving their companies. The lawmakers objected to petitions by Amazon and Facebook seeking Khan's recusal arguing she could not be impartial in any cases involving them because of conflicts of interest and past criticisms of the companies. "Your efforts only add to the perception that you are attempting to bully your regulators, disarm the FTC, and avoid accountability rather than to strengthen ethics standards, and you should cease these efforts immediately," the lawmakers wrote.
