Working groups for the FCC's Task Force for Reviewing the Connectivity and Technology Needs of Precision Agriculture in the United States are making steady progress toward completing a set of recommendations that will be submitted to the Commission by the end of the year, task force Chairman Teddy Bekele, who is senior vice president and chief technology officer at Land O'Lakes, Inc., said during a July 8 virtual meeting."I think there's been some remarkable output that I've seen from the different teams," Mr. Bekele said.Michael Adelaine, chairman of the working group on mapping and analyzing connectivity on agricultural lands and South Dakota State University vice president-technology and security, said the working group is in "really good shape" as it continues to fine-tune its recommendations.Among other things, the working group members are suggesting that a recommendation be added to the final document calling for mapping information to be available beyond the FCC's website and that in addition to a map showing where broadband service is available, a "negative space" map also be included that shows where broadband is not available.
