A federal district court in Vermont has agreed to a further stay of a case involving a challenge to Vermont's net neutrality mandate until a resolution is reached by an appeals court in a case challenging a similar law in California, or until Nov. 15, whichever occurs first. On April 30, the U.S. District Court in Vermont approved a stipulation entered into by plaintiffs ACA, CTIA, NCTA, and USTelecom, as well as the state of Vermont, to put the case on hold to "avoid a waste of judicial and party resources." The parties also said "the scope and conduct of this action could be significantly shaped by the Ninth Circuit's resolution of the appeal in the Becerra matter." The parties suggested that the current stay of the case continue until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (San Francisco) rules on whether to overturn a trial court's decision denying a preliminary injunction of California's net neutrality law.
