Markey, Blumenthal Ask Facebook About Messenger Kids

Sens. Ed Markey (D., Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) have asked Facebook, Inc., about a "design flaw" in its Messenger Kids app that "allowed children to circumvent [parental] restrictions on who they could talk with online." In an Aug. 6 letter to Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, Sens. Markey and Blumenthal asked when Facebook first became aware of the flaw, when it informed parents of the issue, how long the flaw existed, and whether parents are able to "review the unapproved group chats their children were a part of or otherwise learn what information was shared in these chats."
