Gravity-defying Berkeley Group leads by a clear 11 points and is sixth overall, its best ever BMAC performance. Its sales volumes and astute land buying -largely in the south-east - have made it the City's favourite housebuilder. A cautiously optimistic Persimmon reinstated its interim dividend in the summer, after half-year revenues rose 27% to ￡777m. The York-based builder completed 4,657 homes in the first six months of the year. Bellway returned to prof it - ￡44.4m for 2010 after a ￡36.2m loss last year - but the firm said con-fidence in its north-east heartland flagged badly in the autumn. A deal with Barclays means Bovis can now offer 90% mortgages to some customers.
